Bayugan City’s Festive Cooperative Month

From October 17 to 20, 2023, Bayugan City buzzed with a multitude of events celebrating Cooperative Month. The festivities commenced with an exuberant Motorcade featuring various cooperatives, followed by a solemn Holy Mass, setting the tone for the forthcoming celebrations. The Program Proper, graced by the esteemed presence of Major Hon. Kirk A. Asis, resonated with an inspiring message emphasizing the vital role of Agricultural Cooperatives and the importance of mutual support among all cooperatives in uplifting members’ lives and surmounting contemporary challenges. Awards were conferred, recognizing outstanding performance and compliance with the Cooperative Development Authority’s (CDA) regulations. The day was adorned with vibrant Zumba sessions, parlor games, and a delightful “Mutya ng Kooperatiba 2023” money dance, leaving indelible memories in the hearts of all participants.

October 18, 2023, witnessed the third year of the beloved Wish Bus 3.0 in Bayugan. This local initiative, spearheaded by CCDO Ms. Escarlet Estuya in collaboration with the Agusan Sur Transport Service Cooperative (AGSURTRANSCO), featured homegrown talents that captivated the city, showcasing their musical prowess and providing a source of solace for the community.

Continuing the spirit of education and growth, a comprehensive training session on the Food Value Chain was conducted on October 18, attended by five cooperatives. Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) representative, Mr. Reonel Aniñon, enlightened participants on the nuances of the food industry, elucidating the values underlying the food value chain and the importance of sustainability within the sector. The workshop component fostered active engagement and fruitful learning experiences for all involved.

Wrapping up the month’s activities, a detailed Orientation on Cooperative Laws and Legal Counseling took place, guided by the insightful expertise of Atty III, Atty Kenny Junce P. Altubar from CDA Egional Office. Providing in-depth guidance on the Mediation-Conciliation Committee processes, the session proved to be a treasure trove of valuable information for Bayugan City’s cooperative entities. With the indispensable support from the local government unit, the CCDO, and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), the cooperatives expressed deep gratitude for the enriching and unifying experiences provided, underscoring the spirit of camaraderie and cooperation that defines their community.
