CDA Takes Part to Wearable and Homestyle (W&H) Industry Localization Roadmap Workshop with DTI

The Cooperative Development Authority R8 Extension Office participated in the Region VIII Wearables and Homestyle (W&H) Industry Localization Roadmap through its CDS II – CPDAS Irish Joy I. Adrales, last August 17, 2021 via zoom. The workshop, conducted through an online platform, aims to produce a localized version through the value chain development approach in order to strengthen the business environment and market structures in Eastern Visayas. The said industry was identified by the Department of Trade and Industry as one of the priority clusters in Region VIII that contributes to inclusive growth and employment generation.

The W&H Industry Cluster Roadmap was presented by DTI NCRO/ W&H National Coordinator Maricel Alcantara. After the presentation the participants were divided into four groups.  The first group was on the Localizing /Drawing-up of the Region VIII W&H Industry Cluster Players and Stakeholders. The 2nd group was assigned on the topic Identifying Opportunities and Challenges of the Region VIII W&H Industry Cluster. The 3rd group handled the Localizing /Formulation of the Region VIII W&H Industry Cluster Roadmap Vision and Goals and the 4th group was assigned on the topic Prioritizing the Region VIII W&H Industry Cluster Opportunities and Challenges.  The W&H Roadmap Localization Workshop   aims to help industry stakeholders and the national government find more ways to assist our MSMEs become more competitive in the domestic and international markets considering that SMEs are the backbone of the economy.

Finally, before the adjournment, the Regional Technical working group wasestablished. Client-MSMEs producing bamboo craft, shell craft, fashion accessories, footwear, garments, basketry and abaca craft shall form part of the technical working group. CDA together with the DICT, DOST, DENR, TESDA, DOT, Chamber of Commerce, PhilExport,  DA and PCA were identified as enablers of the mentioned industry cluster which was convened by the body.
