The Cooperative Development Authority Region IX Extension Office (CDA IX), in partnership with the Zamboanga City Union Cooperatives and in collaboration with the Regional and Conciliation and Mediation Branch IX (RCMB IX) and Western Mindanao Federation of Cooperatives (WMFEDCO) conducted a two-day Conciliation-Mediation Seminar for Cooperatives last June 19-20, 2024, at the Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City.
The Con-Med Seminar focused on conciliation and mediation for cooperatives. The event aimed to enhance dispute resolution skills among cooperative officers and members, ultimately promoting harmony and efficiency within the cooperative sector. The participants engaged in an interactive workshop and mock conciliation activity to develop practical conciliation-mediation skills.
The seminar concluded with a positive outlook on enhancing cooperative governance through effective conflict resolution strategies. Participants expressed enthusiasm about applying newly acquired conciliation-mediation techniques within their respective cooperatives, fostering stronger internal relationships and operational efficiency.
The Conciliation-Mediation Seminar is part of the programs of the Memorandum of Agreement signed by CDA IX and RCMB IX on April 12, 2024, as part of the 5th Regional Cooperative Summit to promote the preferential use of voluntary modes of settling disputes through conciliation and mediation.
