COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY IX EXTENDS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO COOPERATIVES IN ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY

ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY, February 10, 2024 — The Cooperative Development Authority IX, in collaboration with the Provincial Agriculturist Office, recently conducted a crucial technical assistance session for cooperatives in Barangay Datu Tumanggong, Tungawan Zamboanga Sibugay on February 7, 2024.

The cooperatives in focus are integral members of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, boasting a membership primarily consisting of former rebels. This strategic initiative not only aids in the reintegration of ex-rebels into mainstream society but also empowers them through cooperative ventures.

The technical assistance provided during the session was meticulously tailored to address compliance and other documentary requisites, as part of the Handholding initiative spearheaded by Regional Director Ruben L. Cunanan, JD. This hands-on approach seeks to guide and support cooperatives in navigating the bureaucratic landscape, ensuring that they meet all necessary legal and regulatory standards.

Representatives from various cooperatives attended the session, including the Tigbanuang Bangsamoro Agro-Fisherfolks Marketing Cooperative (TIBAFIMCO), Sibugay Bangsamoro Agri-Fisherfolk Marketing Cooperative, and Kaliantana General Merchandise Marketing Cooperative. The presence of these cooperatives highlights the diverse economic activities within the region.

Jose Ramil Carmona, representing the Provincial Agriculturist Office, Zamboanga Sibugay, was actively engaged in the proceedings. The Cooperative Development Authority IX was well-represented by Cooperatives Development Specialist II Rosylie S. Balungcas and Nursalim L. Simpal.

The primary objective of this collaborative effort is to strengthen the bond between the community, particularly former rebels, and the government. By providing technical assistance and guidance, the initiative aims to foster a harmonious relationship that paves the way for sustainable development and economic growth in the region.

This endeavor reflects the government’s commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of progress. The Cooperative Development Authority IX and the Provincial Agriculturist Office, Zamboanga Sibugay, remain steadfast in their dedication to empowering communities and creating a conducive environment for cooperative growth.
