NO ONE will deny that death and taxes are two things in life that we cannot all escape from: death, the inevitable fate of us mortals, aptly described as our “marriage to eternity, eternity being the home of the souls,” and taxes as the “life-blood of the nation” without which the essence of the State will just be illusory.
“PAGLILINGKOD at pagmamahal!” This is the essence of cooperativism which is being practiced by the cooperatives nation-wide which they manifested when they stood as one to provide the much needed assistance, not allowing any refugee to die of hunger during the height of the Marawi crisis. More assistance is coming as the cooperatives have decided to help in re-building Marawi, pooling their resources together to establish sustainable cooperative village in a 4-hectare area donated by the LGU of Baloi, Lanao del Norte.
WE WERE all captivated by the holding of the recent 31st Asean Summit which saw the attendance of national leaders coming from all over the world including the President of the United States, President Donald Trump. All trumpeted the theme of the Summit which is Prosperity for All. Wow! In a world where only eight families have a consolidated wealth equal to the combined assets of 3.6 billion people (according to an Oxfam study), the imperative need for equitable distribution of resources has become glaring.
IT HAS been said that in this country, no one is above the law; all must bow down to the majesty of the law because we follow the rule of law and not of men.
ONENESS in all of God’s creation. This is foremost in the hierarchy of the laws of nature as everything is inter-connected. No sun, no air, no water, no life. No forest, no river, no crops, no food. It is that simple.
